Summer Hiring Improving Southern Oregon Job Picture

Three out of four southern Oregon counties are reporting job gains during the month of May. According to the Oregon Employment Department, Jackson, Josephine, Coos and Curry counties are all benefiting from hiring for the summer tourism season.

Double Fatal Car Crash In Roseburg

A head-on crash in Roseburg killed two people and sent another three to hospitals.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says a pickup driven by a 25-year-old Kyle Augustine was heading east on Melrose Road late Monday when it crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with an Oldsmobile driven by James Rammage.

ODFW Changes Umpqua River Fishing Due To Drought

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has imposed emergency restrictions to protect steelhead in the mainstem of the Umpqua River due to the drought.

District biologist Greg Huchko said Tuesday flows are 50 percent of normal, and temperatures are approaching lethally warm levels, making fish seek out cooler water at the mouths of tributaries.

New Fire In Eastern Oregon, Progress In Buckskin Fire

Crews are trying to contain a wildfire burning south of the Succor Creek State Natural Area in Eastern Oregon.

The Bureau of Land Management said Monday the 175-acre blaze was spotted the night before by an aircraft returning from a wildfire in Idaho.

The cause of the wildfire has yet to be determined and there's no estimate for when it might be contained.
