BLM Issues Soda Mountain Wilderness Stewardship Plan
The Bureau of Land Management is releasing its final Soda Mountain Wilderness Plan. The wilderness was created in 2009. The Soda Mountain Wilderness lies on the south side of the BLM’s Medford District in the mountains southeast of Ashland. The designation limits human activity to non-motorized recreation and other non-invasive activities.
The plan also includes two road-to-trail conversions, changes to 23 miles of former vehicle routes and fires will be controlled when they pose a threat to human life or property.
There is now a 30-day appeal period. The plan is online at http://blm.gov/or/district/medford/plans/files/SMW_Plan_Letter.pdf.
