Patrick Leaving IndyCar For NASCAR
It's finally official: Danica Patrick-who has gained notoriety for racing in IndyCar-will race full-time in NASCAR's Nationwide Series for JR Motorsports in 2012. She has raced in 20 events for the team in the last two seasons. The announcement was made today from the GoDaddy.com (Patrick's main sponsor) corporate headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona.
On a limited basis, Patrick will race in up to 10 Sprint Cup races for Stewart- Haas Racing next season as well. She hasn't ruled out running in the 2012 Indianapolis 500.
Patrick became the first woman to win an IndyCar race when she won at Japan in 500, a victory some critics dismiss because of achieving the win on fuel mileage strategy. Her highest finish in the Indy 500 came in 2009, when she finished third.
