Earthquakes Strike Off West Coast

A series of earthquakes have struck off the Oregon coast but scientists say they weren't strong enough to trigger tsunamis.

The largest came first, at magnitude 5.8. It struck about midnight Sunday and was followed by three quakes early Monday. They were of magnitude 4.3, 5 and 4.4.

They struck at a fault nearly 300 miles west of Coos Bay, Oregon.Read More »

2 Oregon Women In Nepal Are Safe

Family members told KEZI-TV on Tuesday ( ) that Amber Brazil got though briefly on an emergency line to say that she and Alicia Scroggins are trying to make their way to a spot where vehicles can get in.

Small Earthquake Strikes Northeastern Oregon

- A small earthquake struck northeast Oregon on Monday morning. The U.S. Geological Survey said it was of magnitude 3.4. The dispatch center at the Wallowa County sheriff's office says it got one report from a resident who said her windows rattled. The geology agency says the earthquake was centered five miles east of Joseph on the north flank of the Wallowa Mountains.Read More »

The U. S. Geological Survey recorded a small quake early Thursday at Mount Hood. The quake at 1:52 a.m. was a magnitude 2.6 at a depth of about two miles.

Wednesday Morning Earthquake Off Oregon Coast

A magnitude 4.5 earthquake was recorded Wednesday morning in the Pacific Ocean about 125 miles west of Bandon on the south Oregon Coast. The Bandon police department said there were no immediate reports of shaking or damage. The quake was at 8:30 a.m. The U.S. Geological Survey website said it was at a depth of more than 6 miles.

Earthquake Rumbles Off Oregon Coast

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.9 has been recorded off the Oregon coast but there were no reports of it causing damage or being felt. The National Earthquake Information Center in Golden, Colo., says the quake hit Thursday evening. It was centered about 240 miles west-northwest of Coos Bay, Oregon, at a depth of 6 miles.

Mild Earthquake Felt Near Portland
