Youth basketball players ages 7 to 14 are invited to NBC Basketball Camp in Rogue River, from Monday August 2nd to Friday August 6th. The camp will run from 9 am to 4 pm each day and be held at Rogue River Middle School.
Top coaches from around the area will teach basketball fundamentals during the five-day skill development camp. NBC’s famous Intensity Stations will also be part of the camp. NBC is the largest basketball camp in the world and has both day and overnight camps around the United States as well as Canada, England and Italy. There will be a Music For Mercy Benefit Concert at Rogue Valley Christian Church, 1440 S. Oakdale Avenue in Medford at 6pm on Friday August 13th.

Movies at the Pointe presents “To Save a Life” a movie which deals with some of the most relevant issues of our day: divorce, suicide, cutting, teen pregnancy, drinking, etc.
Although the movie’s themes are directed toward teens, it truly crosses generations. Because of the MPAA rating PG-13, it is recommended that viewers be 13 or older. A kid friendly movie will be shown for K-6th graders; no infant care provided.

“A Call to Prayer” is a day set aside to unify all Christians for the purpose of Worship and Prayer, and to lift up families, communities, service men and our nation to God.
The event will be held at the Medford Armory on August 28, 2010 from 1pm til 10pm. Churches and Para-church ministries from all over the Rogue Valley will be participating and taking part in the leadership and execution of this event.

For over 10 years, The Salvation Army has provided fans to needy residents who are especially vulnerable to the heat. Residents with heat-related health risks include senior citizens, disabled individuals, those with illnesses or families with infants.
Since the beginning of July, the Army has provided 101 fans to low-income Jackson County residents and has only a few fans remaining to meet the need. As a result, the organization requests the community’s help with donations of used or new fans. Monetary donations will also be appreciated and will help with the purchase of fans. The Salvation Army appreciates the help the community has already provided with a total of 119 used and new fans donated to date.
Donations of used or new fans may be dropped off at the organization’s thrift store at 922 N. Central, Medford or at the church office at 304 Beatty St in Medford. The season offers a variety of experiences including a circus camp for young children, a Commedia dell’arte camp for teens, and 2 camps for kids 6-12 entitled “The Adventures of Lewis & Clark” and “A Kid’s Life”. Nationally every day, 1,000 veterans of World War II pass away. There are about 35,000 WWII veterans living in Oregon. Honor Flight of Oregon is a non-profit group that flies these veterans on an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. to see the memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifice.

Food & Friends volunteers ensure that hundreds of homebound seniors in our community benefit from the hot, nutritious meal and friendly visit.
For the past 8 years, Food & Friends has helped seniors throughout Jackson & Josephine Counties to maintain their independence in the familiar surroundings of their own home. Volunteers are asked to commit to one morning a week, Monday through Friday from about 9:30 a.m. to noon (or 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Ashland). Home delivery routes are currently available in all areas of Jackson County.

SOASTC is offering training for families interested in becoming Treatment Foster Parents in Josephine County to work with at-risk youth. There are many youth in critical need of the warm, structured environment a treatment foster home can provide as they work to overcome some of the challenges life has dealt them.
