Our History
theDove radio originally went on the air November 1, 1960. At that time, it was a 1000-watt daytime only AM radio station.
• On September 7, 1983, Perry & Peggy Atkinson bought the station. Shortly thereafter they applied for and were granted 1000-watt 24-hour frequency AM 1230.
• Three years later Atkinson’s changed the frequency to AM 1300 and increased its power to 20, 000 watts.
• Two years later theDove was born when The Atkinson’s applied for 91.7 FM frequency and changed KDOV to a class C-2 FM radio station at 26,000 watts.
• Then on March 10th, 2010, theDove signed on KDOV-LD Channel 44 TV station.
• Since then, theDove Media has grown to 13 FM radio outlets, 16 TV outlets, 4 cable channels, ROKU, Apple Tv and live streaming on the internet. Now reaching over 6 million consumers daily.

One of the many reasons I love listening to theDove is because I appreciate the biblical worldviews of what is currently going on in the news. I listen each morning and the morning show is one of the highlights of my day. I get encouragement throughout the day with the various speakers and programs that play and God often brings me encouragement right at the moment I need through them. It is such a blessing to have theDove in the Valley as they have helped bring light to our community through not only their ministry, but also the various ministries they support. It has been so much fun having the various Christian artists come to town and putting on incredible concerts and theDove is a huge reason that is possible.
