Sheriff's Deputies Discover Cockfight at Egg Ranch
Jackson County sheriff's deputies broke up a cockfight and took nine people into custody at a farm at Eagle Point.
As deputies responded to a report of trespassing Saturday at Willamette Egg Farms more than 20 people scattered. Eight people were cited for cockfighting and released. A farm employee was arrested and accused of letting people on the property for cockfighting.
Deputies seized 35 roosters and turned them over to a caretaker. Deputies also seized complete sets of fighting razors, which are fastened to the legs of roosters.
One of the participants told deputies admission to the event was $25 and entry fees were $500 per rooster. A makeshift bar was set up to serve alcohol.
