Grants Pass Citizens Public Safety Academy
The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety is announcing a "Citizen's Public Safety Academy" beginning August 21. The weekly classes start at 6 p.m. run for 3 1/2 hours, totaling 11 sessions .
A press release from the department indicates that participants will learn the many aspects of Police and Fire operations throughout the academy. There will also be three additional Saturday sessions offered where citizens will participate in defensive tactics, vehicle operations and firearms range.
Applicants must be over 18 and pass a background check. A student academy will be conducted at Grants Pass High School later in the school year.
