Oregon Timber Exports [VIDEO]

By admin Mon 16th July Newsloggingtimber

Increased timber sales in Oregon is a ‘good news’, ‘not so good news’ report on Oregon’s lumber industry. State officials say the 2011 harvest is up 13% from the previous year. But that didn’t help the entire industry. Timber officials say the raw material cost pushed the price up for mills because what was sent was unprocessed wood. David Schott with the Southern Oregon Timber Industries Association says the federal government could help through a bill authored in part by Oregon congressman Greg Walden. Schott says he’s optimistic such legislation could pass. With the upcoming presidential election Schott says he’s not expecting a vote on the Walden Defazio bill to be voted until after the November balloting.
