Advisory For Jackson Creek Lifted
The Oregon Health Authority says the health advisory for Jackson Creek in the Central Point area has been lifted. Water monitoring data confirms the species of blue-green algae cells in the creek water were of the non-toxic producing variety.
Oregon Health Authority encourages water enthusiasts to be alert for signs of algae blooms. Toxic blue-green algae should be avoided as it can be harmful to people and animals. Avoid water that is foamy, scummy, thick like paint, pea-green, blue-green or brownish red in color.
Anyone observing conditions described is encouraged to call the Harmful Algae Bloom Surveillance program. The number is (971) 673-0400.
