Southern Oregon Home Construction (VIDEO)
The commerce department reports housing starts rose to the highest level since October of 2008, but that might take a while to see the results in Southern Oregon according to one builder.
At the high point several years ago there were one or two homes being built and sold each week by Malot Construction. Now it's averaging about one home per quarter.
Owner Tom Malot says that example shows how difficult the home-building market is currently. Even with the difficult times for home-builders, Malot says those in the market tend to be drawn to newer homes because of the current low interest rates rather than buying those that are used.
