Air Patrol Reconnaissance (VIDEO)
The next time you see a red white and blue airplane flying, it might be mapping out any seismic activity that’s occurred in Southern Oregon.
The Civil Air Patrol has been conducting emergency training exercises in Medford, Bend, Salem and Portland. They’re photographing major points of interest that could be vulnerable as a result of earthquake activity in the area. It’s an ongoing mapping that C.A.P Major Larry Kendrick says is critical should a major seismic activity occur.
During one of their flights the Civil Air Patrol may end up taking photographic evidence of as few as three potential earthquake sites and to up to as many as 15. Currently 8 C.A.P airplanes are being used throughout the state.
