Local Employment Picture Unchanged
The latest report from Worksource Oregon shows the county employment picture is holding steady. The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate holds at 10.4 percent, but it’s improved over June 2011’s figure of 11.7 percent.
Leisure and entertainment added 280 jobs in June, retail trade added 120 jobs, and construction and manufacturing added 100 each. Most job losses occurred in the public sector.
Josephine County is reporting a slight upward tick in unemployment at 11.7 percent, up from 11.6 percent in the previous month’s report. In June, 2011 Josephine County had a seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate of 12.8 percent.
