Accused Mount Ashland Sabotuer Arrested
Mountain bikers believe a man arrested by a Forest Service officer is the person responsible for sabotaging trails on Mount Ashland with ropes and fallen logs, causing crashes. The owner of Ashland Mountain Adventures, Bill Roussel, told the Mail Tribune he spotted the man early Sunday just before he ran into a log dragged across the trail. He encountered other logs that were apparently placed to obstruct mountain bikers.
Roussel says he has seen the older man with a white beard and a small white poodle at least four times before. He wouldn't respond to greetings but would just stand there and glare. Roussell called the Forest Service, and an officer arrested a man. Spokesman Paul Galloway confirmed an arrest, but wouldn't comment on the case.
