Five people were injured at 1:29 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, three of them seriously, when a van and car collided with on Highway 140 at milepost 22 near the Odessa Market. This section of road is in the Lake of the Woods safety corridor.
The Oregon State Police say a van driven by Samuel Oetinger III of Central Point was hit when a Ford Tempo driven by Halie Budden of Klamath Falls turned in front of the van. Both vehicles came to an uncontrolled rest in a ditch adjacent to the highway.
Budden was transported to Providence Medical Center. Oetinger and one of his passengers, Tony Pruett of White City were taken to Sky Lakes Medical Center with minor injuries. Charles Whittington and Thomas Bocast of Central Point were also riding in the vans and they are being treated for serious injuries at Sky Lakes.
The accident remains under investigation.
