"Good Progress" on Fires in Red Buttes Wilderness Area
Good progress is being made on six fires burning in the remote back country in or near the Red Buttes Wilderness Area in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. Two fires are now out, one fire contained, and one was expected to be contained today. Another is at 40 percent containment. The most challenging has proven to be the 50-acre Hello Fire, a challenge is it is located in extremely rugged terrain.
Motorists are advised that Forest Road 1040 from Seattle Bar Campground west to Bean Gulch is closed. Trail #954 is closed as posted, as is #957 and junction of Shoefly and Trail #958 Horse CampTrail west to Azalea.
