Southern Oregon Unemployment On The Rise
Southern Oregon unemployment is up for the month of July. Jackson County’s seasonally-adjusted figure is up to 10.7 percent, compared to 10.5 for June. It’s a similar story for Josephine County, where unemployment is 12.0 percent, compared to 11.7 in June.
Over the year, Jackson County shows a gain of 500 jobs. Private sector employment is up by 1,200 jobs, and government jobs have declined by 700.
In July, the educational and health services sector lost 80 jobs in Jackson County. Wholesale trade employment showed a gain of 60 jobs, while retail trade picked up 440 jobs. Construction gained 110 jobs, accommodation and food services 130.
