Seiad Valley Evacuation Remains In Effect
The mandatory evacuation for residents of Seiad Valley remains in effect as the Goff Fire continues to burn. At latest word, the fire has grown to 16,765 acres and is 16 percent contained.
Shelter is being offered for evacuees at the Siskiyou County Fairgrounds, as well as for large and small animals. Protecting homes in the Seiad Creek Road area remains a top priority for firefighters. Multiple trail closures remain in effect. 18 hand crews, 13 engines, 16 water tenders, and 5 helicopters have been committed to combatting the lightning-caused fire which started August 5th.
