Josephine County Firefighters Getting Out School Zone Safety Message
Firefighters from the Rural/Metro Fire District are out in force this week to remind motorists to be careful in school zones. Rural/Metro”\ is posting fire engines all week near school zones with a banner attached to remind everyone to slow down and be alert.
Spokesman Mike Shaw says this is another way for his fire department to serve the community, and he reminds everyone that the school zone speed is 20 miles per hour. For Merlin residents, there’s an additional reminder that there’s a section of Monument Drive that extends from the Merlin Road and Monument Drive intersection out past North Valley High School where the speed limit is 45 miles per hour.
