Goff Fire Fully Contained

By Jim McCoy Tue 11th September News

As of 6 p.m. last night, the Goff Fire in the Fort Complex was declared 100 percent contained. No further activity outside the perimeter is expected. Within the fire’s ring, burning may continue on in to October.

Mop up work started this morning, with continuing patrol and suppression repair. Smoke may be visible, but is not of concern. The Incident Command Post in Happy Camp will remain in operation, while the base camp at Applegate Lake will be closed.

Hikers and outdoor enthusiasts may keep up on trail and road closures by visiting the Klamath National Forest website. The lightning-caused blaze that started August 5th has burned over 22-thousand acres.
