Group Beats A Grants Pass Teen

Police in Grants Pass are on the lookout for a group of suspects believed responsible for a beating that occurred on NW C St. at 10:54 Thursday. 18-year old Jacob Coates was approached by a group of males armed with Maglites. All but one was wearing a Halloween mask. The suspects beat Coates with the Maglites and kicked him. He sustained numerous lacerations to his head, requiring sutures or staples. Police arrived within three minutes of getting the call, but the suspects got away. Witnesses say they saw six or seven in the group. The one not wearing a mask was described as a male in his late teens with short dark hair. Police are continuing their investigation.
