Bike Thefts Surge In Medford, Including A Judge

Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Tim Barnack is one of the latest victims of bicycle thieves in Medford. He was at a gym for an hour one day last week and when he came out, his $1,000 mountain bike was gone. Police Sgt. Brent Mak told the Mail Tribune bike thefts increased dramatically during the good weather and one or two are reported each day. Mak says locks and chains don't seem to deter the thieves, so owners should try to keep their bikes inside or in sight. Associated Press
