Bridge Replacement A Part of Improvement Package for Fern Valley Interchange
According to a report in the Medford Mail Tribune, the Jackson County Board of Commissioners has voted to accept over $3 million in federal bridge replacement funds. It would go to replace the bridge on Fern Valley Road, which passes over the Bear Creek Greenway in Phoenix.
The new bridge would be better suited for commercial truck traffic, have defined bike lanes and sidewalks. It would be packaged as part of a $73 million project that would also bring about other significant upgrades to the Fern Valley interchange, connecting Interstate 5 to Phoenix.
The project will go to bid in April, 2013. All the interchange improvements will take about two years to complete.
