For the second year in a row, distribution of emergency food boxes has topped one million in Oregon and Southwest Washington, according to Oregon Food Bank. Locally, Jackson County has seen an 11 percent increase in requests for food boxes.
Janeen Wadsworth is Interim Executive Director for Oregon Food Bank, and he says not only is joblessness a driver of the need for help, underemployment, limited benefits and higher living costs are also factors.
