A Medford judge has granted an accused murderer's request for a new defense attorney. Bourne Huddleston, who is being held in the Jackson County Jail, said he did not feel he was receiving adequate representation from Michael Bertholf and wanted a different public defender.
The Mail Tribune reports that Berthold did not object to Huddleston's request. Prosecutors allege the 43-year-old ex-Marine killed his wife with a single gunshot wound after he failed in two attempts to hire two men to perform a murder-for-hire scheme.
The couple's 10-year-old son was in the home at the time of the shooting and called police. Police tracked Huddleston to an Eagle Point home where he was arrested without incident.
