Unemployment rates went down slightly in Jackson, Josephine and Coos counties. For the month of September, the jobless rate improved by a full percentage point over the year prior.
The seasonally-adjusted rate was 11.9 percent for Josephine County, 10.5 percent for Coos County, and 10.6 percent for Jackson County.
Jackson County payrolls saw a gain of 2,200 jobs. Most came in the government education sector.
