First Bike Signal Operating in Southern Oregon

Southern Oregon has its first bicycle signal up and running. Cyclists have a dedicated lane and signal on Ashland street towards the bridge spanning Interstate 5 at Exit 14, approaching the southbound on-ramp. An ODOT spokesman says signals like this have been a success in Portland and Eugene. When the bike’s signal is green, all motor vehicles turning must stop. Conversely, when the bike signal is red, bicycles must stop and allow for automobile traffic.
