Change Your Batteries While Changing Your Clocks

Firefighters are reminding everyone that while you “fall back” by setting your clocks back by one hour Saturday night, make sure to also change the batteries on your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. A functioning smoke alarm greatly enhances your family’s chances of escaping a house fire unharmed. While on the subject, Carey Chaput from the Applegate Fire Department says that having an escape plan is essential. Keep matches and lighters out of the reach of children, and keep flammable items away from heat sources.
