A homeless man who said his medication for schizophrenia had been stolen from his backpack has been sentenced to the State Hospital for setting a fire that damaged businesses in the Ashland Plaza.
The Ashland Daily Tidings reports that 37-year-old Raymond Lee Wilson was found guilty except for insanity on a charge of arson.
Investigators said Wilson set fire to a trash can next to one business on March 19 and tossed rocks through windows at other businesses, stealing from one.
Wilson pleaded not to be sent to the mental hospital, but Judge Timothy Gerking said he has to be considered a danger to himself and others. He'll be in the custody of the state Psychiatric Security Review Board and at the State Hospital for up to 20 years.
