A Central Point woman has pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide for crashing her pickup into a van of reforestation workers, killing one man and injuring two others.
The Medford Mail Tribune reported that 35-year-old Leta Jean Schroeder was sentenced Thursday to nearly four years in prison.
The crew was headed for a brush-clearing job in July. Police say Schroeder drove her pickup through a red light in Medford and hit the side of the van. Prosecutors say two of the injured, one with significant brain damage, can no longer work.
Charges of manslaughter and driving under the influence were dropped. Schroeder fled and was arrested later in the day. Prosecutors say traces of drugs were found in her system, but it couldn't be determined whether they impaired her.
