Oregon Tech Firm Gets Infusion of Cash, Will Double Workforce
Portland tech startup Urban Airship has received another $25 million in new backing and plans to double its workforce this year.
The company currently has about 120 employees.
The Oregonian reports Urban Airship makes software for "push" notifications for smartphone apps. For example, it could notify a user of a sports score or let a pharmacy customer know a prescription is ready.
Chief executive Scott Kveton says it's trying to grab as much of the market as it can. Clients include TV networks and national retailers.
