Bargaining over a new state employee contract is in the offing in Oregon, and the largest public-sector union has released its proposals, including some that aren't strictly pay and benefit items.
The Salem Statesman Journal reports that Local 503 of the Service Employees International Union is asking for raises and more vacation time.
The union also wants the state to sever relationships with banks that committed illegal acts before the crash of 2008. It seeks language against bullying by managers. And it wants to end private contracting where union members can show it's cheaper to do the work in-house.
The Department of Administrative Services is analyzing the proposal. It's expected to make a counteroffer in early March.
