A Medford man is charged with aggravated animal abuse after his roommate called police to report that his Chihuahua had been severely injured three days earlier.
Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau said today that investigators determined that 29-year-old Christopher Lee Lewis opened a sliding door and threw the dog into the backyard after it urinated inside the house Sunday night.
Budreau says investigators believe the dog was thrown about 15 feet into the air. The dog was taken to an animal hospital the morning after it was injured, and was treated for brain trauma, internal bleeding and two broken legs.
Lewis was booked into the Jackson County Jail. Bail was set at $5,000.
