An attempted robbery and confrontation with store employees Monday morning put an Eagle Point man behind bars. 22-year old Leonel Olvera-Hernandez Jr. is lodged in Jackson County Jail on 1st and 2nd Degree Robbery charges and 3rd Degree Theft.
Around 6:39 a.m., an employee observed the suspect shoplifting some cold medicine and a key ring valued at $30. When confronted, Olvera- Hernandez ran. When employees caught up to him, the suspect pulled a knife and said he had a gun in his car. When additional employees arrived, Olvera-Hernandez surrendered until police arrived.
Police seized the knife; however, no gun was found. The stolen property was returned to the store.
