According to a report from Jackson County Fire District 3, two teenage girls were rescued off the Lower Table Rock Saturday afternoon. The girls were exploring caves on the side of the outcropping when they became stranded and were unable to maneuver. They called 911, which sent rescuers from Fire District 3 and Jackson County Search and Rescue to the scene. Nine members of Fire District 3 Technical Rescue Team were flown to the top of the lower table rock by a medical helicopter from Klamath Falls. The girls were rescued safely about an hour after team members arrived and with the use of ropes and harnesses they were able to assist the victims up the steep terrain. The call was received at 4:30 p.m. and was completed at 7:00 p.m. A quick response with the aid of the helicopter kept this from being a night operation. The girls were flown to the base of the Table Rock and released. No injuries were reported.
