The Medford office for the Bureau of Land Managements says the Medford District will have two prescribed fires today. According to their press release, the Grants Pass Resource Area will continue burning on the Reeves Creek area, 3 miles north of Kerby. 108 acres will be treated. It is expected that the burning will take the remainder of the week to finish. The Butte Falls Resource Area will have a 58 acre burn near Cobleigh Road, which is east of Shady Cove and off the Butte Falls Highway. The burns will start around 11 AM and ignitions will likely stop by mid-afternoon. Smoke will be visible from many areas around the Illinois Valley and from the Butte Falls Highway corridor. Smoke should be begin to dissipate by late afternoon-early evening. Firefighters and engines will be staffing the burns. Spokesman Jim Whittington expect several other burns to take place across the Medford District between today and Saturday as the weather window is ideal for burning.
