Arrest Made, More Suspects Sought In Drive-By Shooting Case

The 16-year old driver of the vehicle involved in a Tuesday drive-by shooting in Medford has been taken into custody. Omar Alberto Gonzalez was arrested Wednesday morning and taken to the Community Juvenile Justice Detention Center. Gonzalez faces charges of attempted assault, unlawful use of a weapon and reckless endangering. Medford Police also questioned an 18-year old involved in the incident that occurred on Benson Street. He was released. Two more suspects- including the suspected shooter- are being sought by authorities. According to witnesses, three shots were fired Tuesday night after a vehicle entered the neighborhood and stopped. No one was injured and no homes were hit. The incident is believed to be gang related.
