A Grants Pass man is in custody on drunk driving, reckless driving, reckless endangering and assault charges. Sunday morning at 12:37 a.m., 36-year old Charles James Novak failed to obey a stoplight at the intersection of highways 238 and 199 and t-boned a Subaru wagon occupied by three people: an adult male driver and his two children.
The driver and a 6-year old boy were transported to Three Rivers Medical Center for their injuries. A 4-year old girl was transported to OHSU by Mercy Flights to receive treatment for a liver laceration. A female passenger in Novak’s GMC pick-up was treated at Three Rivers for a broken foot.
A breath test showed Novak’s blood-alcohol level to be over the legal limit of .08%. Police are still looking for more details. Anyone with information is asked to call the Grants Pass police at (541) 450-6260.
