An attempted murder charge has been filed against a Medford resident accused of stabbing a man he mistakenly believed to be from a rival gang.
Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau told the Mail Tribune that 33-year-old Adan Valdez had been the victim of a gang-related assault on Thursday and was looking for revenge that night when he allegedly chased a man down the street and stabbed him four times in the abdomen. Valdez allegedly chased the victim into the home of strangers, broke the door down and attacked the victim until the residents pulled him away, and he escaped on foot.
Valdez was arrested Monday and booked into the Jackson County Jail. Bail was set at $2 million.
The victim underwent surgery last week and has been released from the hospital.
Budreau says the victim was "a poor guy walking home from work," and has no gang affiliation.
