A truck belonging to Chase Cook of Medford was found earlier this week in the 1600 block of Powell Road. Cook, last seen on June 23, 2012, is the owner of a 450 acre ranch in the Williams area.
Medford detectives processed the 1971 GMC pick-up and says the vehicle has been re-painted and parts had been stripped off of it. It originally had been reported found abandoned on Highway 238 near the Jackson and Josephine County line on June 28, 2012. By the time authorities arrived, the pick-up was gone.
Individuals who were allegedly in possession of Cook's truck have been identified and are reportedly cooperating with police. It's possible the truck had been stolen after Cook had gone missing and left the truck behind.
At this time, it is not believed Chase Cook fell victim to foul play. The investigation had led authorities to believe he may have been suicidal at the time he disappeared. By the same token, Cook's family says it would have been out of character for Cook to have disappeared.
The investigation to find Cook continues.
