This week, the Rogue River is a classroom for law enforcement, firefighters and instructors. The Oregon State Marine Board is holding its annual Drift Boat School in Jackson County on the Rogue River. Participants are in from all over Oregon for the five day training.
The aim- according to a press release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department- is to provide hands on training in all areas of water rescue, river navigation, safety precautions, boat recovery, reading whitewater, and technical rescue situations. Most of the school time will be spent on the water.
