A Central Point couple is being accused of embezzling over $175,000 from Western Lumber Company. 34-year old Amanda Shannon was a bookkeeper for the company from May, 2010 to November, 2012 when she was fired for unrelated reasons.
In January of this year, Western Lumber reported a possible embezzlement to police. After a lengthy investigation, detectives determined she funneled company funds into her personal credit card account, as well as into her boyfriend’s account.
Shannon and 35-year old Kevin Chestnut were arrested Tuesday. Both face first-degree theft and aggravated theft charges. Bail has been set for Shannon for $75,000. Chestnut was cited and released.
