The Coquille Indian Tribe ran into opposition it didn't expect when it advanced a proposal for a casino in Medford, so it has reorganized its campaign.
The Medford Mail Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/15ny2xk ) that the tribe has hired a former Oregon House speaker, Larry Campbell, as a spokesman. It has also engaged local consultants and put out new brochures emphasizing jobs.
The proposal has also gotten letters from recommendation from officials in Coos Bay and North Bend, where the tribe already has a casino.
The tribe has asked the federal government to put a Medford property into trust to accommodate the proposed casino.
