A Medford resident successfully fought off an intruder into his South Grape Street home last Wednesday night. The man was watching TV at 11:08 p.m. when he saw a man standing in his kitchen. He confronted the suspect, who tried to get away. Th victim attempted to confront the suspect, and a scuffle ensued, resulting in the breaking of glass, which caused cuts to the victims' bare feet. The suspect got away. The victim's 11-year old son was sleeping in the home, but was not harmed.
Responding officers soon found a man walking who fit the description of the suspect in the alley by 13th and Fir Streets. The suspect ran, but was later found hiding in some bushes nearby and arrested.
20-year old Michael Brandon Mak was taken into custody. He was uncooperative and spit in an officer's face. He faces burglary, theft, criminal mischief, unlawful entry in to a motor vehicle and harassment charges. Officers retrieved a camera they think Mak may have taken from a neighbor's vehicle. Nothing was stolen from the home he entered.
