News - Oregon Wildfire Update

By admin Thu 5th September News
Progress continues in putting out numerous wildfires in the state. The Douglas Complex of wildfires in Southwestern Oregon has now been declared contained, although smoke is expected to keep rising until fall rain finally extinguishes the smoldering remains. Oregon Department of Forestry Spokesman Brian Ballou says it's similar progress being made at the Big Windy Fire Complex 25 miles northwest of Grants Pass. Two other large Oregon fires remain including the Government Flats Complex near the Dallas, considered 90% contained at nearly 18 square miles and the Vinegar Fire Northeast of John Day, considered 45% contained at about 2 square miles.
