This year's SAT results showed a drop in math scores among Oregon members of the class of 2013.
The Oregonian (http://bit.ly/14JsEIZ) reports it's the poorest showing among public high school students on the math section of the college entrance exam in the past 12 years.
Some experts on the test say many students get good grades in math classes by getting homework in, by participating in class and by solving problems by rote - but they don't master and retain the material.
Among Oregon SAT-takers, 55 percent reported an A grade-point average, and 38 percent reported a B average. Yet many scored poorly on the SAT.
