Crater Lake North Entrance Re-opened After Shutdown

The North Entrance road at Crater Lake National Park is open again after being closed for more than two weeks because of the partial federal government shutdown. Park officials tell the Klamath Falls Herald and News (http://bit.ly/16qdYSb) the North Entrance and the West Rim Drive reopened Friday. The shutdown ended Thursday, but officials at Oregon's only national park wanted to check the roads before reopening. Weather permitting, the two roads are expected to remain open until Nov. 1, when both will close for the winter. East Rim Drive and the Pinnacles Road have closed for the season. Updates on roads and road conditions are provided on the park's Facebook page and website at www.nps.gov/crla/index.htm.
