Brian DiCarlo says he never thought about keeping the $40,000 he found in an envelope in a grocery store parking lot.
DiCarlo told KPTV (http://bit.ly/KlnBqN ) he knew whoever lost it must be frantic.
He called the Clackamas County sheriff's office Friday and deputies returned the money to 71-year-old Sharon Davis of Portland. She had put the $2,000 in cash and $38,000 cashier's check in the envelope for a down payment on a home.
DiCarlo says he got an emotional phone call from Davis thanking him profusely.
