At 7:30 a.m., Medford Police say they got a call that a burglar had been detained. 19-year old Anthony Mathis used a rock to break a pick-up windowon Lenora Drive, when the noise alerted the victim to what was happening. He rushed outside to look, and saw the suspect grabbing a backpack from the truck. The victim gave chase as Masthis fled on foot. A resident on North Berkeley Way saw the commotion, and he learned what was going on from speaking with the victim. The second man went back into his home and found Mathis hiding in the garage. The homeowner ordered the suspect to stay put, and he called 911. Police determined that Mathis may be responsible for three other burglaries in the area.
