The Mt. Ashland Ski Area will not open this season, the first time in its 50 year history such a decision has been made. The decision was announced this morning via e-mail. The message noted that there is less than a foot of snow at the lower elevations, not nearly enough to open. Season pass holders have two options: they can either turn in their passes and receive a tax deductible donation for the 2014 teax year, or a pass may be purchased for next year at a 50 percent discount. No plans concerning Mt. Ashland’s future have been made known.
